Senior support for sustainability regulation, compliance and governance
Shaped by in-house experience.
Stratix helps organisations turn sustainability and regulatory requirements into practical governance, processes and business decisions. The starting point is not a standard model, but the organisation itself: what already exists, where the real gaps sit and what actually needs to change.
How you can work with Stratix
Senior support for sustainability regulatory compliance and governance — whether you need embedded capacity, help with a defined project, or support building the capability in-house.
Interim & Fractional Legal Counsel
Senior in-house legal capacity, embedded in your team for the period you actually need it.
-
New sustainability requirements create an intense period of work, but the long-term workload may not justify a permanent senior role.
-
You need someone senior to establish the practice, governance and ways of working before deciding what permanent team you need.
-
Your legal team is strong, but sustainability regulation requires experience that has not yet been built internally.
The work needs to start now. The function can be built first and permanent headcount added later, if the business case is there.
-
You need continuity at senior level while someone is away, a role is being recruited or responsibilities are being reorganised.
-
The workload has increased for months rather than days and the existing team needs someone who can take ownership rather than simply provide occasional support.
Focused Regulatory Projects
For organisations that do not need ongoing support but want experienced help to move a specific sustainability compliance issue forward.
-
Governance, roles and responsibilities, policies, grievance mechanisms, risk-management processes and implementation planning.
-
Ownership, review processes, controls, escalation and coordination across the organisation.
-
Substantiation processes for sustainability claims, internal governance, escalation criteria and practical guidance for responsible communications.
-
Reviewing existing policies and structures and identifying what needs to be strengthened, simplified or better connected.
-
Helping teams allocate responsibilities and build practical implementation plans around emerging requirements.
-
Helping international businesses understand and respond proportionately to European sustainability expectations arising through customers, value chains or access to the EU market.
Build the Function
For organisations where sustainability regulation is becoming a permanent responsibility, but the structure, ownership and ways of working are not yet clear.
-
Clarify what sits with Legal, Sustainability, Compliance, Finance and the business.
-
Create practical decision-making, escalation and oversight structures.
-
Put in place the policies, workflows, controls and guidance needed to support compliance.
-
Develop practical guidance and training so teams know what they own and when to escalate.
-
Build the function first, then help define what long-term role or team is actually needed.
Andrea Zumbado
I am a senior international lawyer with more than 14 years of experience, including nearly 7 years focused on sustainability and ESG-related regulation. I have worked hands-on inside multinational companies in retail, steel and mining, helping translate regulatory requirements into governance, policies, disclosures, claims and business decisions.
My experience spans sustainability reporting and double materiality, due diligence, governance and policy development, green claims, product-related sustainability regulation and sustainability strategy. Having worked from within the business, I also understand the practical challenges behind implementation, from unclear ownership and competing priorities to aligning Legal, Sustainability, Finance, Communications and operational teams.
Earlier in my career, I worked in international arbitration and international trade, including disputes involving environmental matters. This gave me an additional perspective on what can happen when environmental and sustainability considerations are not properly factored into business decisions and governance.
I hold a Law Degree from the University of Costa Rica and an LL.M. in International Business and Economic Law from Georgetown University, and I have worked across Costa Rica, Washington, D.C., Paris and Luxembourg.
